October 14th is World Standards Day. An exchange meeting on the high-quality development of medical device standards was held in Beijing. Lei Ping, a member of the Party Group and vice minister of the National Medical Products Administration, attended and delivered a speech.
The meeting pointed out that medical device standards provide scientific guidance and technical support for the scientific supervision of the entire product life cycle and the standardized and innovative development of the industry. In recent years, the National Medical Products Administration has accelerated the establishment of a medical device standard system that is in line with international standards, has Chinese characteristics, and is scientifically advanced. The technical level and internationalization of standards have significantly improved, and the supporting role of standards in ensuring safety and promoting development has become more prominent. The number of medical device standards in China has exceeded 2,000, and the standardization work of medical devices has reached a new level.
The meeting stated that the National Medical Products Administration will lay a solid foundation for the supervision of medical devices and the high-quality development of the industry with high standards, and better play the supporting and leading role of standards in promoting the construction of a strong medical device manufacturing country and a healthy China.
Responsible officials from relevant departments and affiliated units of the National Medical Products Administration, as well as experts from the medical device standardization Technical Organization attended the meeting.
